The International Balkan Panorama Film Festival, which has emerged from the centuries-old Balkan geography and the strong cultural, historical and kinship relations our country has, is hosted by Buca Municipality every year in the last weeks of May.
Finally, the guest of honor of the International Balkan Panorama Film Festival, which was held for the 7th time between 21 May and 27 May 2021, was Erdal Özyağcılar, one of Turkey’s respected and much loved artists.

The International Balkan Panorama Film Festival, which has been operating since 2015, until 2018, 4 festivals were organized with the support of Dokuz Eylul University Fine Arts Faculty and DESEM. The interest in the festival and the curiosity and longing for the Balkan geography have now enabled the Balkan Film Festival to take place in a greater organization.
The International Balkan Panorama Film Festival, hosted by Buca Municipality, is being screened in 4 different independent centers in total, including 3 separate areas on the borders of Buca district and the center in Kültür Park provided by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
Most recently, foreign films that were released at the Balkan Panorama Film Festival held in May 2021 had their Turkey premiere for the first time, as well as some films having their world premieres for the first time at the festival in Buca.

The Golden Umbrella is the main award at the International Balkan Film Festival, where many feature films are screened as well as short films prepared by the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, one from Turkey and the other from the Balkan geography, who are invited as guests of honor every year.
The International Balkan Panorama Film Festival Golden Umbrella Awards, which give 10 national and international awards in total, are announced at the closing event on the last night of the festival. The International Balkan Film Festival, where films are screened simultaneously in more than one hall at the Tarık Akan Youth Center and Hacı Davut Fargoh Mansion, also sets up a nostalgia cinema in Buca Işılay Saygın Square in the evening. Every year, thousands of people watch nostalgic films in the open-air cinema, which was established in the evening hours with the preparations of the Buca Municipality, in Kasaplar Square, which has a large area.
