Hasan Ağa Garden, the garden of the Levantine Aliotti Family, was purchased by Sarıgöllü Hasan Ağa in 1926 and has opened to the public. It is located on Üçkuyular Square, is the second largest city park after Kültürpark in Izmir city center with a width of 96 thousand square meters, one of the most functional parks in the city center with 1.4 km long walking path, bike path, basketball and tennis courts, skateboard rink as well as social living spaces.
The Garden of Hasan Ağa, was originally just a pavilion garden of the Italian Aliotti Family of Izmir, had a space far beyond the period when it was located with landscape studies, endemic plants and camellias. Aliotti Mansion or Hasanağa Garden, has built towards the end of the 1800s, known with its garden plants, specially decorated with roses and camellias. Unfortunately, camellias or kiosk didn’t last until the present day.

Like most Levantine families after the First World War, the Aliotti Family left Turkey and sold the mansion to Sarıgöllü Hasan Ağa. The land of the mansion burned down in 1930, but kept open to the public as long as it was in the hands of Hasan Ağa and his family, and become a place of rest and attraction for the people of Buca during his period.
The Aliotti Family, were the architects of Hasan Ağa Garden, monopolized the carpet trade during their time in Izmir. With their carpet trade from Australia to North America, they have take very important places with the Izmir-based Oriental Carpet Company, which is the largest carpet company in the world. It is said that the Aliotti Family planted 12 cypress trees when they built the Hasan Ağa Garden, which is one of their greatest contributions to Buca, and these trees represent the 12 apostles. This actually explains why the Aliotti Family cares about the landscape as much as Hasan Ağa Garden.
Hasan Ağa Garden, whose first name was Aliottoi Garden, was the preferred stop of young people for camping and scouting activities until 1987. Today, Hasan Ağa Garden, a city park where mostly young people walk, socialize and use for sports activities, is located on about 100 acres of land where families also come and spend time with their children for picnics. The ice rink, which was opened in 1987, became one of the first rinks in Izmir in Turkey.
Before Hasan Ağa donated the garden to the municipality in 1986, it is said that if it was left open, it would be a testament to the service of the people of Buca without any profit.
With its green and large area, Hasanağa Garden reminds us the Central Park. If we need to give an example of another kind of understanding similar to the Garden of Hasan Ağa, whose garden is dominated by a Latin European understanding, it would be right to give an example of the Emirgan Grove of the period.
The Aliotti Family, brought the Hasan Ağa Garden to the zoo in the appearance of a natural environment, was also confirmed by the people of Buca of the period, when they surrounded animals such as deer, peacocks with high walls. The walls of Hasan Ağa Garden are unfortunately badly damaged after the fire in 1930, and demolished by the municipality in 2003 and some arrangements were made to make it safer and gain a more functional dimension.
