Şirinyer Train Station is one of the iconic historical buildings of Buca, located on the İzmir-Aydın Railway Line, which is the first railway line built in Anatolia and the territory of the Republic of Turkey today.
The İzmir-Aydın Railway Line, which was considered a milestone for the Aegean economy and increased the value and production of exported agricultural products, was built to facilitate the transfer of the rich agricultural products of the region to İzmir Port.

The İzmir-Aydın Railway Line, which was started to be built in 1857 by the ORC company, which was founded by 4 British merchants with the title ‘Ottoman Railway Company’, to which the Ottoman Empire granted a 6 percent profit guarantee in 1856, is considered one of the historical turning points in terms of being the first railway concession in the Ottoman geography.
The railway line, which was put into service between Punta (Alsancak) Station and Paradiso (Kızılçullu/Şirinyer) station on the main line in December 1860, extended to Aydın in 1866.
During the First World War, the Ottoman Government seized the management of the railways, and after the Armistice of Montrose, the management of the railways was taken over and started to be managed by the Entente States.
After the proclamation of the Republic, the railway and train station, which was purchased by TCDD in 1935, was started to be operated by TCDD. The old buildings in Şirinyer Station, which was closed in 2006 within the scope of İZBAN, which is the longest suburban line project realized in a city in Turkey, connecting the north and south of İzmir, maintain their characteristics. Some of the buildings are rented out as cafes and markets. The route through which the train line passes is pedestrianized and used as a park and recreation area.
The İZBAN line passes through the underground tunnel opened under Şirinyer Train Station. Today, the suburban station, which has heavy passenger traffic as Şirinyer İZBAN Station, is 300 meters from the Historical Şirinyer Train Station.
