Mevlana Statue is 75 meters above the sea level and almost whole the district can be seen at this point. The statue is prepared by sculptor Eren Okkan in 7 months and coated with 25 tonnes of copper. After daylight is gone, statue is getting enlighted with laser lights.

Just next to the base of statue, there are Neva Kafe and Üretici Kadınlar Pazarı which are powered by Bucamar; funded by Buca Municipality.
The Story of Tıngırtepe
The point Mevlana Statue has lots of story to tell. Long before the statue built, there was a tower owned by a rich, catholic Armenian from İstanbul. The owner is more interesting than the tower which is conscructed in 1845 or 1846.
There is a story that, the owner of the tower Petros Tıngıryan has lived at Buca for 40 years alone, but hate against women in his heart. Despite that, people say he got a enormous library with full of books he loved to read, also he could speak nine different languages (Armenian, Greek, Latin, Arabic, Persian, Italian, French and Sanskrit) and working on creating a unique language for every person to understand.
Petros is considered as the creator of a mysterious language which is called “Sahleray”, “the world wide language.” This amazing work’s purpose is thoughfully supporting international peace and love. Also he prepared special grammar and vocabulary books for people to learn his language – and his visitors to communicate. Additionally, he created an unique musical note system for his alphabet.
Petros Tıngıryan built his tower on top of the hill and called this area as “White Land”. Then he wrote “Ayzeratand – The Temple of Wisdom” on the door of the tower. In an evening of the year 1881, after living in the tower for 40 years, he went to the tomb which is built in the tower by him long time ago for reclusion. Next day, when his visitors came and they found his body in the tomb.
Tingirtepe’s actual story can be found in the lyrics of John Lennons’ “Fool of the Hill” that referenced from Petros Tıngıryan. Maybe a grandchildren of British Levanten which knew Petros would told about his awkward story to members of Beatles.
Today, only cistern remainings left from the tower on the hill’s 20 acres of land, but there is 25 meters heighted, world’s third biggest statue – Statue of Mevlana, who spoke about universal brotherhood.
